Armillary Sphere Sundial   £325

This impressive Armillary Sphere is made in a ‘classic’ design with heavy sections of solid brass to ensure generations of enjoyment. Built around a meridian ring, that holds the gnomon, and an equatorial ring that carries the hours of the day in engraved roman numerals it also features a horizontal ring  and a further ring following the axis of the gnomon rod.
The meridian ring has a slot cut at the top intersection of the equatorial ring extending 23½ degrees above and below the ‘equator’. On the longest day (Summer Solstice) the Sun will align with the very top of the slot and on the shortest day (Winter Solstice) with the bottom of the slot, throwing a shadow of the centre orb on the gnomon rod above and below the hour mark.
Each Armillary is made to suit your exact Latitude and to tell local noon. The hours can be engraved to show either BST or GMT.
The heavy horizon ring can be engraved (at extra cost) to carry a motto or an inscription marking an important event or memorial.
This Sundial is supplied in a Bronze toned finish as standard and the complete 450mm diameter Armillary sphere weighs a healthy 7 kg; over 15 LBS.
